'Success for all, in all we do'

Year 1 Blog 11th December 2020

This week, we have all enjoyed reflecting on our exciting Dinosaur Planet topic and thinking about all the things that have been learnt! Children completed their 'Knowledge Reflection' and thought about their new favourite facts.

In maths, children re-capped their knowledge of the part-whole model and of number bonds, before moving on to subtracting within numbers to 10. This is a concept that we will be continuing after Christmas.

In English, children have been learning how to identify fiction and non-fiction texts by looking at their features. They sorted them into piles and chose their favourite book before explaining how they knew whether it was a fiction or non-fiction book. We have also been practising adding the suffix -ing to verbs.

We have all been feeling more festive this week and are looking forward to lots of lovely activities and surprises next week!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Yorke and Miss Marshall
