'Success for all, in all we do'

Year 1 Blog- 13th November 2020

Year 1 have had another busy week! On Monday, the children had a shock when they returned to their classrooms after lunch to find it had been destroyed! After checking the classroom's 'CCTV', they watched footage of a dinosaur wandering around the classroom! A letter had been left from Terry T-Rex, who apologised for knocking things over with their long tail! They had visited Year 1 to drop-off their favourite book 'A T-Rex comes to Town', and asked the children to write some stories for them to read to their T-Rex babies! Therefore, this week the children have been hard at work writing stories about their own dinosaur who visits Fircroft!

In maths children have continued to consolidate their knowledge of the part-whole model. They have looking at 'fact families' for numbers within 10 and have found that we can write 4 addition number sentences for each part-whole model. Learning that the = symbol can be at the start or end of a number sentence has been a key learning point for them this week.

In computing, the children have been enjoying learning how to code using the iPads. They will be developing this skill further over the next half term.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Marshall and Mrs Yorke
