GSO Test

'Success for all, in all we do'

Year 1 Blog 26th March 2021

This week has been an exciting last full-week of term!

In maths, children have started learning how to count in twos. They should be becoming confident counting aloud in 2s from zero to 50, as well as recognising the pattern of numbers that are multiples of 2. They should be able to apply this knowledge when counting a group of objects (see maths Home Learning task). Once they have mastered this skill, they should practise counting backwards in 2s!

In English this week, children have enjoyed the African tale 'Sleepy Cheetah'. They retold the story using pictures and actions before producing some fantastic writing re-telling this story. We were really impressed by the way that they tried to include new vocabulary such as 'sooty', 'scampering' and 'dozing'.

Today children enjoyed their Hands On Science workshop! They learnt about the importance of biological diversity and the role that each part of the eco-system plays. They also found out how to identify the difference between cat and dog paw prints and got to take a cast of one of these home!

Wishing you a restful weekend before the Easter holidays.
