'Success for all, in all we do'

Year 1 Blog- 2nd October

It's been another busy week in Year one! On Monday, the results from our School Councillor, Eco-Councillor and Reading Ambassador elections were announced. All of the children listened carefully to the candidates' reasons for putting themselves forward, and took voting very seriously! Welldone to those who have been selected and to all the children who volunteered to stand as candidates.

In maths this week, children have been developing their understanding further of finding one more and one less of a number. In English, the children have been working towards writing their own poem to celebrate 'National Poetry Day' which was on Thursday 1st October. They used Vincent Van Gogh's 'The Mulberry Tree' painting as the 'vision' for their poem. Look out for some of the children reading their poems aloud next week! They also enjoyed listening to some of Michael Rosen's poetry, especially 'Chocolate Cake'!

 Reminders:

  • Year one's Home Learning task has been set using Google Classroom. Please check your child's book bag and ParentMail for tips on how to complete and upload their learning

  • If you have finished with any children's comics or magazines, it would be fantastic if you could donate them to our class book corners for other children to enjoy!
