GSO Test

'Success for all, in all we do'

Year 1 Blog- 31st March 2021

A huge welldone to both children and parents for making it through what has been a challenging term! The children have settled back into school life remarkably well and have enjoyed being back together for their learning. They have worked really hard but have had a fun and exciting end to the term!

As the weather has been so lovely we treated the children to an ice lolly in the beautiful Garden Hub, as well as organising an Easter Egg hunt (with some help from the Easter Bunny!). They have made various Easter crafts too.

We hope that you all have a relaxing and restful Easter break and we look forward to seeing the children again in a couple of weeks. As always, we have provided the children with additional reading books, and if you would like some additional things to practise too please see the ideas below.

Mrs Yorke and Miss Marshall

Ideas for things to practise:

-Counting aloud forwards and backwards from any number up to 100

-Counting aloud in tens

-Counting aloud forwards and backwards in 2s (to 50) and 5s (to 100)

-Practise making part-whole models with objects e.g. get 12 teddies and partition them into 2 numbers (10 + 2 or 9 + 3 or 7 + 5 etc.). Can children write 4 addition number sentences for the part-whole model?

-All children could practise writing numbers to ensure no digits are reversed, or for more of a challenge writing the number names in words

-Practising some of the 100 High Frequency Words is always beneficial too!
