GSO Test

'Success for all, in all we do'

Year 1 Blog- 6th November

The first week back after half term has been an exciting one!

To launch our Dinosaur Planet topic, the children had an exciting hands-on fossil workshop. They got to be paleontologists for the morning, and discovered a range of real and replica dinosaur, plant and fish fossils! They learnt lots of new facts about dinosaurs as well as having some facts clarified! They showed great teamwork and observation skills to identify what the fossils were.

In maths, children have been learning the new concept of the part-whole model. They have been practising splitting a whole number into 2 parts in different ways.

In English, the children read the focus text 'The Wondrous Dinosaurium' and designed their own dinosaur pet. They practised using adjectives to describe their dinosaur and what adventures they would love to get up to with them! They have all been trying hard to plan their sentences aloud and say it on their fingers before writing them, which has helped them to remember their full stops!

Have a lovely weekend and don't Google Classroom for the Home Learning.
