GSO Test

'Success for all, in all we do'

Year 1's Christmas fun!

We have had an exciting week of Christmas celebrations! The children enjoyed their Christmas lunch and crazy Christmas party. They also enjoyed a Christmas film and popcorn (at 09:30 in the morning...!)

We are so proud of the way that the children have tackled the first term after so long away from school. They have shown such enthusiasm, hard work and commitment to their learning, which has been fantastic to see. Everyone deserves a well earned break so there will be no formal home learning. However, should you wish to practise any of the key skills in Year 1 we suggest the following ideas:

  • All children have received at least 3 reading books. We suggest each book should be read at least twice in order to develop their fluency and pace when reading.
  • All children would benefit from some more number formation practice.
  • The high frequency words are always useful to practise writing as part of a sentence; they, was, there, what, said, who, when, with.
  • You could also practise counting forwards and backwards to 50 and finding one more or one less of numbers to 50.

We wish you all a healthy, happy and restful break! Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year!

Best wishes,

Miss Marshall and Mrs Yorke.
