School Meals

Our kitchen staff prepare fresh delicious meals daily from our school kitchen. The children enjoy a variety of healthy meals including a vegetarian option, salads and fruit each day. All meat served in the lunch hall is halal.

We ask that you choose either packed lunches or school meals for the entire half term as our caterers need to plan their numbers in advance. If you wish to change your child’s lunch pattern, please speak to the School Office in advance.

Children with Food Allergies

If your child has food allergies, you should complete the Medical Diet Request Form below so that we can make our kitchen aware and they can offer you advice on which of our menu items are suitable/ unsuitable for your child.

They will require supporting documentation from the child’s GP, dietician or paediatrician.  It can take up to 3 weeks for them to process this request, so you may need to provide a packed lunch until you receive confirmation from them.

Packed Lunches

Children may bring a packed lunch however, we ask that they are healthy and well-balanced as we encourage healthy eating at school.  Sweets, chocolates, crisps and fizzy drinks are not allowed.

We are a nut free school, therefore we ask you to check ingredients carefully and avoid products containing peanuts and nut products.

Drinks are not necessary as children have water bottles in class and water is alway on offer in the dining room.

Please ensure drinks are in a non-breakable container.

According to NHS Choices, a balanced lunchbox should contain:

  • Starchy foods like bread, rice, potatoes or pasta (thermos)
  • Protein foods like meat, fish, eggs or beans
  • A dairy item, like cheese or yogurt
  • Vegetables or salad and a portion of fruit

Remember, we are a NUT-FREE school - Please do not send any foods into school that contain peanuts or nuts.

 Payments

Since September 2023, children in Years 3-6 have been able to receive a free school meal, thanks to the scheme run by the Mayor of London. This is in addition to the Universal Infant Free School Meals children in Reception to Year 2 already receive. Parents do not have to pay for the meals and it is an ideal opportunity to take advantage of a hot meal at school.

Nursery meals are chargeable at £2.90 per day which should be paid for in advance.  We encourage parents and carers to pay per half term or termly.  If you find it easier to pay per week, please do so however we ask that your account is always in credit.

We are not able to serve a school meal to children whose school meal accounts are in debt, so you will be asked to provide a packed lunch from home.

Payments should be made online via Arbor Parent Portal and Parent App To use our online payment system, please register your email address with the school office. We are a cash free school and the school office is unable to accept cash or cheques.

Emergency School Meals

If a child has forgotten or spoiled their packed lunch we will automatically provide them with an emergency meal and if necessary add the charge to your Arbor account for prompt payment.

A reminder that Emergency School Meals are for emergencies and should not be used on a regular basis.

Changes to meal arrangements

We ask that you choose either packed lunches or school meals for the entire half term as our caterers need to plan their numbers in advance. If you wish to change your child’s lunch pattern, please speak to the School Office in advance.

Fruit for Schools Initiative

All children in the Early Years and Key Stage 1 receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable for snack at playtime as part of the Government’s scheme to promote healthy eating. Please let us know if your child has any allergies to any particular types of fruit.

Unfortunately children in Key Stage 2 do not receive free fruit or vegetables, so they may wish to bring a snack to school each day.  Please send fruit, peeled vegetables or dried fruit.  Please do not send biscuits, chocolate, sweets, crisps, nuts etc.
