'Success for all, in all we do'

Reopening for pupils in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6

The Prime Minister is due to make an announcement on Thursday 28th May to inform schools and families of the decision about the wider opening of schools from 1st June at the earliest. Fircroft parents recently completed a survey regarding wider opening and indicated if they required a school place for their child when we reopen. ALL parents, who confirmed that they were choosing to send their child back to school in the first week, have been emailed a letter regarding arrangements. A copy of the letter can be read here. Our current offer is a phased return with Year 6 starting first. Pupils will be able to attend school from Monday to Thursday. Start and finish times will be staggered and we will operate a one way system from the Fircroft Road Gate to the Mandrake Road Gate and ask all our families to ensure a 2 metre distance from others.

Monday 1st June: Pupils who attend ongoing provision (key worker families)

Tuesday 2nd June: Year 6 pupils return

Wednesday 3rd June: Year 1 pupils return

Monday 8th June: Nursery Full-time pupils (Hedgehogs) & Nursery Part-time (Squirrels) return

Tuesday 9th June: Reception pupils return

Wednesday 10th June: Nursery Part-time (Badgers) return

Many of our parents said 'I will not be sending my child back immediately but will review my decision on a weekly basis'. We are happy to accept returning pupils on a weekly basis starting each Monday. We are asking any parents who prefer a 'wait and see' approach to please let us know by the Wednesday the week before they would like their child to start. In the first instance, we will require notice by Wednesday 8th June for a start the following week. We hope parents appreciate that this notice period is essential as we only have a limited amount of spaces available. We cannot go above 12 pupils in most classes and we have a limited amount of staff available for returning year groups. If we reach our capacity and cannot fulfil demand then we may have to reduce our current offer.

Some parents said they would prefer to send their child back to school in September. We are all having to make difficult choices and we will continue to support our community and the choices you make for your children. With this in mind, our Home Learning will continue to be available and our teachers will still be in regular email contact with parents to support pupils who are learning from home.

We would like to reassure our school community that we are following all government guidance regarding reopening. The safety of our community is our priority. We understand that this may be unsettling and that you and your children will have concerns. In order to reassure parents, our risk assessments will be shared following the announcement on Thursday if we are are to open wider. We will also be sending an easy to understand visual guide so that our pupils are prepared for school to be a little different when they return. ‚Äč

Learning From Home - See OUR BLOGS

We are working hard to make sure that all Home Learning Activities and PDFs are ready for our families in good time for Monday morning. If you spot any links that don't work then please let your child's class teacher know and they will correct it as soon as possible.

WHITE ROSE MATHS WORKSHEETS - all worksheets are now available to download as PDFs on our blogs. Please do not pay for these yourself. Fircroft has paid for a school subscription to allow our pupils to continue to make use of the resources at no additional cost to our families.
